Antun Boris Švaljek

(Zagreb 10.06.1951.)

Antun Boris Švaljek was born in Zagreb in 1951. He is originally from Radoboj near Krapina. He finished elementary school in Petrinja, and high school in Varaždin, and these facts determine his life. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1969. He graduated from the painting department with prof. Šime Perić 1974. From 1974 to 1977 he was an associate of the Master Workshop of prof. Krsto Hegedušić. He studied in California in 1979. So far, he has exhibited in about 100 solo exhibitions in Zagreb, Varaždin, Dortmund, Cloppenburg, Hvar, Čakovec, Los Angeles, Karlovac, Zadar, Krapina, Split, Petrinja, Stari Grad, Munich, Labin, Rovinj, Pécs, Osijek, Pula, Mostar. He has exhibited in more than 600 group exhibitions at home and around the world. He has won several awards, including the First Prize of the 4th Biennial of Watercolors "Josip Račić" for 1987. He is a volunteer of the Homeland War. He was awarded the Order of the Croatian Danica with the figure of Marko Marulić in 1996. He is an associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Mostar in Široki Brijeg.
