Nikola Reiser

Born on October 14, 1918 in Mirnovac near Samobor.
He was educated in Samobor, Sisak and Zagreb.
In 1938 he enrolled at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb (art history), but the following year he passed the entrance exam at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.
He studied with prof. Krsto Hegedušić, Omer Mujadžić and Vladimir Becić, and he graduated in the painting class of prof. Oton Postružnik.
He has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb as an assistant professor since 1969, associate professor since 1975 and full professor since 1980.
He has been exhibiting independently since 1945.
He has participated in more than 250 group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad (Paris, Moscow, Leningrad, Bratislava, Prague, Warsaw, Bucharest, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Athens, Brussels, Bonn, London, Antwerp, Vienna, Mexico, Munich, Budapest, Sofia, Caracas, New Delhi, Florence, Kiel, Chicago), at biennials in Venice, Krakow and New York, and at the World's Fair in Montreal.
He has held about 100 solo exhibitions at home and abroad.
He has been awarded with numerous prizes.
Nikola Reiser died on March 23, 2010 in Zagreb.
